Ways to Wellbeing Festival May 2024

Boost your wellbeing this May with OnFife’s varied programme of activities and events for adults, children and families. 

Our four-week festival takes place across many of our OnFife venues.

You’ll find something to suit everyone no matter your age or ability.

Here’s our artist in residence, Carolyn Higgins will be here she’ll teach you about composition and how to create pictures emphasising light and dark.

The drop-in session will take place on 23rd May at 11am-1pm. The session will be held in Gallery 3 of our Brushstrokes Exhibition at Dunfermline Carnegie Library so you’ll be surrounded by plenty of inspiration.

Free: Bookbug Week takes place across Scotland every year. This year the theme is Bookbug Says Hello! and we’ll be celebrating all the wonderful languages that are spoken in Scotland. Join Julia for a special Intergenerational Bookbug session, Weds 22nd May at 1.30pm with the residents of Bandrum Nursing home and local families.

There will be songs, rhymes and a wee story – maybe even a wee jig! Spaces limited to one adult with every child and bookings are taken by email via : julia.dyke@onfife.com

The session will take place in Community Cafe with Bandrum Nursing Home.

Just bring along any handicraft you are working on and share you talents with the group or ask for advice, swap tips or simply work on your project with some company. FREE: Game ON is a casual gaming club that occurs in Café Wemyss every Thursday from 5-6.30pm. Join us for a fun-filled evening where you can play one of our games or bring your own!

There are a wide variety of games to get stuck into! From classics such as Cluedo, Chess and Scrabble all the way to more unique titles such as Forbidden Island, Ingenious, Star Realms, Codenames, Munchkin and The Hobbit.

Coming on your own? No problem! Our friendly Gamemaster will be there to fill in as an opponent or help set up a new game you haven’t played before!

Lego Club: Love Lego®? Then come along to our Lego Club.

Become a MASTERBUILDER, creating Lego masterpieces with a different theme each week. To ensure everything stays awesome this will be a Kragle free zone!!!

Free: Adult drop-in LEGO® creation station at DCLG

Rebuild Dunfermline: 400th Anniversary of the Great Fire of Dunfermline

All this LEGO fun is not just for the children. Pop along to DCLG in May and enjoy a free drop in adult LEGO creation station. In partnership with Historic Environment Scotland there will be LEGO builds throughout May at various locations in Dunfermline. Join us at DCLG on 25 & 26th May to Rebuild Dunfermline after the Great Fire in LEGO. We’ll recreate buildings and landmarks in the style of 17th century Dunfermline with sculptor and LEGO enthusiast Alistair Jelks. These LEGO creations will be showcased in June in the Community Gallery of Dunfermline Carnegie Library & Galleries. #GreatFire400🔥

FREE: Magic Table: Get your hands on our Magic Table and play interactive games specially designed for those living with dementia. Free: Mindfulness Session with Craig Gilbert

At Dunfermline Carnegie Library on 24th of May 2024 10:30 -12 noon.

A dementia-friendly mindful mediation session with Craig Gilbert, linked to our Brushstrokes Exhibition. Craig will guide you through the basics of mindful meditation and how looking at art can be a great way to slow down, reflect, and just be. This session will help you to pause, take time for yourself, and to look at art in a new or different way.

Mindful Art workshops, 

Gill Smith expertly weave mindfulness and relaxation into her art practice and allows the participants to go on a calm and creative journey. These classes are aimed at adults who would benefit from relaxation, calm and pain management through creative experiences.
