A boy has to cope with his mother’s re-emerging mental illness.

Daniel knows that his mum was very ill with mental illness when his sister was a baby. Although Daniel remembers it, he doesn’t like to think about it and she’s fine now, isn’t she? She’s even got a new job as a head teacher, which means the family have to move and Daniel has to go to the school where his mum now works. He really doesn’t want to go there and knows he will be made fun of.

Then, things get even tougher for Daniel. His father has to go to New Zealand and his mum stops taking the medication, which prevents her illness coming back, as she thinks she doesn’t need it anymore. As his mum’s behaviour becomes very strange, Daniel realises that something is terribly wrong and that he is the only person who can help her.

This is a moving, funny story about looking after your family, yourself and finding unexpected friends to help you.
