The story begins in 1910 when Alfie and his sister, Daisy, escape from the workhouse. Life becomes so much better for them and Alfie, is delighted, when he gets to keep a puppy called Rascal. Together they become messengers for Mrs Pankhurst, who along with other Suffragettes are campaigning for women to get the right to vote. Can Alfie and Rascal manage to carry out their daring, dangerous missions and can Emmeline Pankhurst and the Suffragettes win their campaign?
