If it’s the buzz of live performance that you’re after, then make a bee-line for OnFife venues this summer.
Anyone who loves live entertainment will be thrilled by the new season of shows being staged at theatres run by the cultural charity.
Its latest brochure of upcoming attractions is brimful of drama, ringing with song – and packed with shows that are too good to miss.
“We have a packed programme of entertainment that people will love,” says Karen Taylor, Programming Manager. “We would recommend that people book early for the best seats and ticket prices.”
Included in the line-up of events are three captivating theatre shows. Ireland the Show, at Rothes Hall on 23 July, features some of the Emerald Isle’s most gifted artists, accompanied by the fabulous Keltic Stormband and the world champion Gael Force Irish dancers.
Dragged Tae The Steamie get an airing at Carnegie Hall on 22 July. This new spin on Tony Roper’s hit play The Steamie – in which all the characters are portrayed by actors in drag – sold-out across the country last year.
Dinosaur Adventure Live is an unforgettable Jurassic experience for all the family to enjoy. This awe-inspiring interactive stage show – 65 million years in the making – is at Rothes Halls on 5 August.
Fans of musical theatre have much to savour. The Wizard Of Oz! by Nardone’s Academy Of Performing Arts is at Lochgelly Centre from 2 to 3 June and Ladama Theatre School presents Peter Pan: A Musical Adventure, also at Lochgelly Centre, from 15 to 17 June.
Must-see music shows at the Rothes Hall include a 50th Anniversary concert by Showaddywaddy on 8 July and a welcome reprise of Some Guys Have All the Luck – The Rod Stewart Story – on 19 August.
Tickets are already selling fast for the longest continuous touring cabaret show in the UK – the Ladyboys of Bangkok, who are returning to Rothes Hall with shows from 31 July to 2 August.
The venue is also hosting musical blockbuster Twist and Shout on 18 August – a feel good show, featuring a West End cast, which shimmies and shakes through the songs of the Sixties.
Fans of hit TV series Still Game can enjoy a nostalgic saunter through the streets of Craiglang with cast members Boabby, Winston, Navid, Isa and Tam. People Huv Tae Know is at Carnegie Hall on 9 September.
Three top tribute acts are playing the venue too. Acclaimed soft rock Fleetwood Bac play on 25 August; the international smash hit Abba show, Thank You For The Music, takes place on 1 September; and Simon & Garfunkel: Through the Years revisits the duo’s much-loved back catalogue on 8 September.
Carnegie Hall hosts 10CCLO’s two-hour tribute to the hit-making genius of 10CC and ELO on 3 June and the UK Pink Floyd Experience on 2 September. Lochgelly Centre welcomes Desperados – a show celebrating the music of the Eagles – on 23 June.
“There’s music, drama and no little excitement in our line-up this time round,” says Karen Taylor, “our summer season is the perfect time for having a ball.”
