Families are being invited to have fun and get fit with this year’s Summer Reading Challenge.

The theme of the challenge, which is for youngsters aged four to 11, is Ready, Set, Read, and this summer OnFife Libraries is teaming up with award-winning Robyn Drummond Fitness to bring Ready, Set, Move with Robyn! events to venues across Fife.

Next Tuesday (11 July) there will be free half-hour family fun events at Benarty, Lochgelly, Inverkeithing and Kelty; on 28 July, she will be at Valleyfield and Dunfermline Carnegie Library & Galleries; and on 2 August, the sessions will be at Rothes Halls and Cupar.

Robyn is a personal trainer and helps thousands of women through her health and fitness app, RDF, and received the title of Young Businesswoman of the Year and Entrepreneurial Award for 2023 at the Dunfermline Press and Central Fife Times Community Champion Awards.

No equipment is needed just wear something comfortable and have a water bottle to hand and there is no limit as to how many you can attend! For dates, times and booking details see Summer Reading Challenge 2023 – OnFife. Spaces at the RDF events are limited.

Robyn said: “I am absolutely delighted to be an ambassador and support the OnFife Libraries Summer Reading Challenge with these fun engaging fitness classes through the summer. The events are free and suitable for everyone – from young children to grandparents. There will be amazing giveaways and prizes to be won at the events so do come along, keep active and explore your local library this summer – keeping not only the body active but the mind active too!”

Sabrina Maguire, Engagement Co-Ordinator for Young People and Families at OnFife, said: “The Summer Reading Challenge is a big highlight of our year and we are so happy to be working with Robyn this summer. There is nothing better than seeing young people and families come together to keep their minds and bodies active and have fun. We feel that Robyn’s ethos matches ours and she is such an inspiration to young people.

“We’re only two weeks into the Summer Reading Challenge this year and already have more than 2,000 Fife children signed up and we can’t wait to see some of those children at our Ready, Set, Move with Robyn! Events over the coming weeks.”

Young people can register for the Summer Reading Challenge at their local library over the holidays to read six books and collect lots of rewards along the way. There are also lots of craft events to take part in.
