The versatile DCL&G galleries comprise of three impressive exhibition spaces. With their high ceilings and beautiful arched feature walls, Galleries 1 and 2 can be used as a single large exhibition space or as two separate spaces, depending upon how the partition walls are located. Gallery three is a more intimate space ideal for the smaller exhibition , with a sliding wall that allows the sunlight to stream in and the views to be enjoyed when open, or when closed, a darker space sympathetic to light-sensitive materials.
These spaces will provide an opportunity for Dunfermline to display some of Fife Council’s impressive art and museum collections, alongside exciting touring exhibitions.
The first art exhibition – Art in Trust – features highlights from the paintings collection. Each work has been carefully selected to illustrate the breadth and calibre of the collection. The exhibition features paintings by many well-known artists, including William McTaggart, L S Lowry, James McIntosh Patrick, E A Hornel, all four Scottish Colourists and recent acquisitions including Fent by Alison Watt. From landscapes to seascapes, portraits to still life, there is something for all our visitors to appreciate and enjoy.
