Café culture makes a very welcome return to much-loved visitor spot

A museum eatery that has been sorely missed after closing during the pandemic is to reopen its doors.

The new café at St Andrews Museum – to be known as The Granary at St Andrews Museum and opens this Thursday  (15 June) – is all set to become a go-to destination for great coffee and mouth-watering modern food.

Tracy McCafferty, Venue Manager at St Andrews Museum, said: “We’re thrilled to have a café open again as it’s been much missed by visitors, who we know are going to love The Granary. To be working with a company whose values, passion and commitment to quality and innovation match our own ambitions for St Andrews Museum is the icing on the cake.

“The museum is in a magnificent Victorian mansion in the fantastic setting of Kinburn Park and now has a café offering again to match and we can’t wait to welcome visitors old and new.”

The Granary Manager Kieran Conner said: “I am so excited to be bringing The Granary brand to St Andrews and working alongside OnFife at the Museum.”

St Andrews Museum is the second partnership cultural trust OnFife has entered with The Granary, which also reopened the café at Dunfermline Carnegie Library & Galleries (DCL&G) in March.

Tracy McCafferty said: “Visitors to DCL&G have been giving The Granary glowing reports since it opened and with the same amazing food at St Andrews, be it for coffee and cake or a tasty lunch, we know our visitors to St Andrews Museum are going to be blown away too.”

St Andrews Museum recently returned after a major revamp, reopening with a new exhibition and refreshed displays and new objects on show, including a hoard of medieval coins found in St Andrews and a magnificent embroidered banner created in 1823 for the Thistle and Rose Lodge of the Free Gardeners Society, St Andrews.  A further attraction is the acclaimed exhibition Brushstrokes, which showcases works from the dazzling array of paintings managed by cultural charity OnFife.
