Interview with Jenny Chan June 05th 2007 10.52MP.SNL2009Interview with Jenny Chan, 05/06/2007, interviewed by John MooreBorn in Scotland to Chinese parents Jenny feels more Scottish than Chinese partly due to spending most days when she was young with her Scottish child-minder but also school, where she has won competitions reading Scottish poetry.(1 min 30) She enjoys Chinese cultural events as well though, particularly the Chinese New Year and the Autumn Moon Festival. (03 mins10) She went to China on a `Roots seeking camp`; 40,000 Chinese students from all over the world were selected, with 25 from the U.K. and 4 from Scotland. She visited several historical sites including the Temple of Heaven, Forbidden City and the Great Wall. The U.K. group were flown to southern China(07 mins) to attend a boarding school and compare the school’s curriculum with their own. She also learnt a wee bit of Mandarin-her family speak Cantonese-calligraphy lessons, Chinese dancing and folk songs and Tai Chi. She would like to study History at university but failing this, an Art course (09 mins 40)Total running time 10 minutes and 52 seconds
