Youngsters inspired as photographs go on show

It’s not every day that children get the opportunity to see the results of their creativity hanging on the walls of an art gallery.

But that was the inspirational experience we were able to give to pupils from Lynburn and Touch Primary Schools in Dunfermline – as well giving them their own red carpet ‘VIP’ events.

The P7 pupils took part in a series of workshops with Scottish photographer Adam Geary on the subject of Utopia, exploring what gives meaning to their everyday lives and makes them happy. 

Some of their work formed part of Adam’s exhibition entitled Utopia, which was later held in Dunfermline Carnegie Library & Galleries.

“I loved getting to experience this once-in-a-lifetime moment,” said Summer Allan from Lynburn Primary.

“It’s wonderful to see all their hard work come to life,” added Touch Primary teacher Clare Gowrie. “It’s a huge achievement to have their work on display and the pupils have taken great pride in their work.” 

Curator Alice Pearson said: “These red-carpet events were a great opportunity for the two schools to celebrate their hard work, and they were all really excited to see their photos on the walls of the gallery.”
