Young book lovers can catch the travel bug and enjoy a week of fun

10 May 2022

OnFife Libraries staff will be sharing all kinds of travel-related tales next week as part of a Scotland-wide celebration of stories, songs and rhymes.

Whether it’s trip on the train, a stroll through the park or even an adventure to outer space, Bookbug Week 2022 has plenty for young readers to enjoy.

This year’s theme is Bookbug’s Big Journey, and it’s full of interesting twists and turns along the way. Events are suitable for children aged 0-4 and all are free, although booking is essential.

The Libraries team has plenty of fun in store – whether it’s a dauner on a Bookbug Buggy Walk at Dunfermline on 16 and 17 May, or a messy play adventure in Glenrothes on the 16th.

Children and their big folk can also take a jaunt to the library and enjoy some of the wonderful journey-themed sessions on offer.

Thanks to funding from Scottish Book Trust, storyteller Sarah Wedderburn- Ogilvy will lead an imaginative, interactive session at Dunfermline Carnegie Library & Galleries on the 19th.

Sarah will be taking her audience on A Trip to the Moon with Mindful Movement – an enjoyable, immersive experience for parents/carers and children.

And, as Bookbug Week takes place during OnFife’s Ways to Wellbeing Festival, what better way to chill than with stories and some yoga at Dunfermline Carnegie Library & Galleries on the 19th.

There is also an opportunity to enjoy ‘for one week only sessions’ at Newport library on the 17th and Auchtermuchty library on the 19th.
