Defend Dunfermline Festival & Exhibition
With celebration and commemoration Forth Pilgrim will revisit the alliance and friendship between Scotland and Poland during WW2. The event will begin on the Saturday with an Parade taking place on Sunday including dignitaries of both countries, pipers and military bands.
Throughout the weekend, a multi venue exhibition based on the events which happened in Dunfermline will take place based on researched archives, our WW2 comic book artwork and a new themed artwork offered by Ian Moir of the Fire Station Creative. The big exhibition will be in our own Dunfermline Carnegie Library & Galleries, with a smaller one in the City Chambers to show how it was to be fortified & manned with Polish machine gunners. We will retrace the activities of the Home Guard & significant presence of the Polish Army in the city.
A guide / programme with a ‘period’ look / feel to it will be produced to inform visitors of the festival activities and the exhibitions, plus some comics will be for sale.
