Where St Margaret’s story lives on
Margaret became Queen of Scotland when she married King Malcolm Canmore in Dunfermline around 1070. Three of her eight children would become Kings of Scotland. She died in 1093 after a deeply religious life and was made a Saint in honour of miracles associated with her. St Margaret’s Cave is where she is said to have prayed – a peaceful, atmospheric space below the town. Interpretive panels and audio bring her story and medieval Dunfermline to life.
