We welcome schools, community groups, clubs and learning organisations to our museums, galleries and venues across Fife. Whether it’s a class visit, a day out, a workshop or a loan box of objects to collect and use in your classroom, our team will help you plan an experience that suits your group.

What we offer

We support groups of all kinds who want to explore our venues and exhibitions. You can enjoy:

Museum visits — discover fascinating objects, local stories and changing exhibitions. Our teams can help you plan a visit that suits your needs.
Workshops & learning activities — many of our exhibitions come with linked workshops or activities that help groups of all ages get more out of their visit.
Loan boxes — borrow original objects, photographs and information to use in your classroom or group space.

Museum loan boxes

Did you know OnFife Museums has items that can be borrowed by schools and community groups? Our loan boxes contain original objects, photographs and information that give you a chance to get hands ON with your history.

From schooldays to shopping, Romans to the Swinging Sixties, there are over 20 topics to choose from — Egyptians, Romans, Victorians, World War 1, 1930s Domestic, World War 2 (six boxes from the Home Front to life in the services), 1950s & 1960s, Schooldays, Washdays, Shopping and more. We may also respond to requests for other topics depending on what is available in the handling collection.

Our loan box service is completely FREE. Loan boxes are collected from and returned to Kirkcaldy Galleries.

Planning a group visit

Group visits are perfect for school classes, nurseries, community groups, youth organisations, adult learning groups, clubs and societies, history or special-interest groups, and visitors with additional support needs.

Every group is unique, so we tailor each visit. When you get in touch, let us know your group size, preferred date and time, which venue you want to visit, any access needs, and whether you’d like a workshop, activity or loan box.
