Welcome to our community galleries
Our Community Galleries support local artists and foster community engagement.
They are located in four venues – Adam Smith Theatre, Dunfermline Carnegie Library & Galleries, Lochgelly Centre and Rothes Halls.
Applications: We have been reviewing how we manage the community galleries and applications are currently on hold. Once all the new processes for handling applications and exhibitions are in place, we will share further details.
Supporting local creativity
During 2025/26, we hosted 21 exhibitions, involving 18 artists and curators, including six group shows, in our community galleries.
Adam Smith Theatre featured diverse contemporary work, including Hayley Matthews’ acrylic landscapes, Ian Anthony Thompson’s socially engaged pieces addressing the impact of social media, Greig McLennan’s linoleum-inspired abstract designs, and Susan Kilpatrick’s exploration of her connection to the sea.
Dunfermline Carnegie Library & Galleries hosted a broad programme, including Nourish Scotland’s exhibition on public diners, Fife College HNC Photography students’ showcase, and Creative Coven, a multi-artist response to Scottish witch hunts. Additional exhibitions included Cath Ruane’s photographic work on the Outwith Festival, Charlie Marshall’s painting of Dunfermline architecture, plus additional engagement activities, and Pat Beveridge’s observational paintings inspired by everyday life.
Lochgelly Centre combined solo and community exhibitions, with Dinnes McArthur’s varied practice, Dorothy Black’s patterned figurative work, a collaborative mental health project (Roads to Success), and a large group show from Benarty Arts Club.
Rothes Halls focused on multi-artist exhibitions, including Fife College’s end-of-year showcase, a 70th anniversary exhibition by Glenrothes Art Club, and Lynne Crombie’s bold, abstract works. Artist Sarah Wakeford toured all four venues with evolving exhibitions.
