Fife Reading Challenge

Fife Reading Challenge

Library teams across Fife have created our very own challenge that’s not just for kids but for everyone! Set your own reading goals, discover books you never would have read, and have lots of FUN along the way. The challenge runs 20 June – 31 August.

Schools & teachers

Our libraries are here to support learning in every classroom. We work with schools across Fife to inspire curiosity, build confidence and help children discover the joy of reading. We offer a range of resources and activities that complement classroom teaching. From topic‑based book collections to research support, we help pupils explore new ideas and develop essential literacy skills.

Can my class visit the library?

Schools are always welcome in our libraries. Class visits can include storytelling sessions, book‑borrowing, help using library resources, or introductions to digital tools that support learning. We tailor each visit to your group’s age, needs and interests. Contact your local library to find out more.

How do class memberships work?

Class memberships are available for all class teachers and nurseries across Fife. Each membership lets you borrow up to 35 books at a time, order titles through our online catalogue, and access our full range of e‑resources.

To request a class membership, simply download the form and return it to your local library, or email chatterbooks@onfife.com for more information. Memberships must be renewed annually.

Are corporate memberships available?

Corporate Memberships are available for Childminders, Private Partner or standalone nurseries, playgroups and youth groups. Your membership enables you to borrow up to 15 books from our junior and teen collections and renew them in person or online with ease.

Can the library help with school projects?

Our staff can help pupils find reliable information for projects and homework. We guide young people toward quality books, online resources and age‑appropriate research tools—building skills that will support them throughout their education.

Do you offer Bookbug sessions for nurseries?

Yes — Bookbug sessions are free for families with children aged 0-5. Contact your local library to find out about sessions, or email sharron.brown@onfife.com for more information.

Can my class visit the museum?

We welcome schools, community groups, clubs and learning organisations to our museums, galleries and venues across Fife. Learn more about what we offer.
