Theatres go red to show support for global campaign

28 September 2020

OnFife will be lighting up venues in red on Wednesday (30 September) to show support for the live events industry.

The switch-on is part of Red Alert – Stand as One, a global campaign to raise awareness in support of the live events sector, which employs more than one million people in the UK, all of whom have had no work since March 2020 with little likelihood of restarting until spring 2021.

“We are only too aware of the dire situation faced not only by live events but the culture sector as a whole,” said Michelle Sweeney, OnFife’s Director of Creative Development.

“We hope that when people see one of our theatres lit up on Wednesday night it will be a reminder that we are still here and still need your support.”

The Adam Smith Theatre in Kirkcaldy, Carnegie Hall in Dunfermline, Lochgelly Centre, and Rothes Halls in Glenrothes will be lit in red from 8-11pm on Wednesday (30 September).
