The new Reading Room combines the Reference and Local Studies functions in a beautiful study space.
Whether you want to use one of our 12 public access computers, access a stunning range of reference books or find out about the history of your house, your street, your town or your family -the Reading Room is the place to visit.
Our specialist areas are Dunfermline and the West Fife villages and this is reflected in the book stock, maps, newspapers and photographs which are easily accessible and catalogued for your use.
We are especially lucky in Dunfermline having had such philanthropic citizens who have left a variety of beautiful collections to the library including those of George Reid, John Murison and Erskine Beveridge. All of these collections are available for consultation by appointment along with a wider range of archival material than before including Dean of Guild plans and cemetery records.
Classes in family history will be part of the new offer as well as a monthly series of talks on local subjects.
