Begin your musical journey

Our Musical Instrument Library is based at the Jennie Lee Library in Lochgelly Centre. The library has a range of musical instruments available to borrow for up to six weeks, allowing budding musicians young and old to try something new.

Borrowing or returning an instrument to the library takes place every Saturday morning from 11am to 1pm with the support of our Musical Instrument Library volunteers and library staff.

Who can borrow an instrument?

Anyone with a current OnFife library membership can borrow an instrument.

How do I borrow an instrument?

When you find your ideal instrument on the library catalogue you can reserve it the same way you would with a book. When your instrument is ready to collect you’ll be notified and you can then pick it up from the Lochgelly Centre. It can take a few days to do this, so please be patient while we get your instrument ready!

How long can I keep an instrument?

The library has a range of musical instruments available to borrow for up to six weeks initially, allowing budding musicians young and old to try something new. If you would like the instrument again, contact the library on 01592 583381 or email on lochgelly.library@onfife.com.

Is there a cost to borrow an instrument?

No, they are all free to borrow for library members!

What instruments can I borrow?

You’ll find a range of instruments – from guitars and keyboards to smaller items like ukuleles and violins.
