Our commitment to fair pay
OnFife (Fife Cultural Trust) is committed to fairness, equality and transparency in pay. Equal pay legislation has been in place since the 1970s and makes it unlawful to pay men and women differently for doing the same or equivalent work. We are committed to meeting these standards and going beyond them.
What is the gender pay gap?
The gender pay gap is different from equal pay. It measures the difference in average earnings between men and women across the whole organisation, regardless of role. This means it reflects the overall distribution of roles and responsibilities within the workforce — not whether men and women are paid the same for the same work.
A gender pay gap can be influenced by a range of factors, including:
- The types of roles people work in
- Career progression and seniority levels
- Working patterns, including part-time work
- Time taken out of the workforce, for example for caring responsibilities
Understanding our gender pay gap helps us identify where we can improve and take action to support equality across our workforce.
Reporting and transparency
As part of our commitment to openness and in line with public sector expectations, we publish our Gender Pay Gap data annually. These reports provide a snapshot of pay across our workforce and help us monitor progress over time.
