OnFife CEO to leave after 14 years

27 July 2026 2 min read

Cultural charity OnFife has announced that Heather Stuart, its CEO for nearly 14 years, is leaving to take up a new role.

She has been appointed to the newly created position of CEO of the Mount Stuart Trust on the Isle of Bute.

Heather Stuart said: “The decision to leave has not been an easy one. I believe passionately in the importance of what OnFife does and it’s particularly difficult to leave the organisation I set up as its first CEO.

“It’s been a privilege to lead OnFife, working with so many dedicated and committed people. I am proud of everything we have achieved over the years and I know this will continue because of the strong organisation we’ve built.

“There’s never an ideal time to leave a role, however sometimes a personal opportunity comes up that shouldn’t be missed. It’s also important to allow room for different ideas and perspectives to come into organisations.”

Commenting on the change, Gary Love, Chair of the OnFife Board, said: “Heather has been an outstanding, forward-thinking CEO and has steered OnFife through many challenges over the years, at all times being driven to deliver the best cultural services possible for Fife. As the first CEO of OnFife she leaves the organisation in a strong place to build on its many successes. We wish her every success in her new role.”

Heather will remain with OnFife for the next three months and during this period and subsequent transition to a new CEO, continuity and leadership will be provided by the Board, Executive Team and the Senior Management Team.

The Mount Stuart Trust manages a significant rural, residential and commercial portfolio and much of the work is in the cultural and heritage space.
