Visit our museum & galleries or book a local studies visit

The museum and gallery spaces at our big three museums and galleries – Kirkcaldy Galleries, Dunfermline Carnegie Library & Galleries and St Andrews Museum are open and you no longer need to book a visit in advance.

We’re enjoying a summer of activity and sunshine with family-friendly exhibitions to delight our audiences with Explore! at Dunfermline Carnegie Library & Galleries, Blooming Marvellous at Kirkcaldy Galleries and Art-tastic at St Andrews Museum and we hope you will come visit us.


Visiting a Museum & Gallery

We are delighted that our ‘big three’ OnFife museums and galleries are open once more. You no longer need to book a visit, just turn up during opening hours! You can view the collections and exhibitions at:


Booking a Local Studies visit

We are providing a tailored, appointment-only visitor service at Dunfermline Carnegie Library & Galleries and Cupar Library.  Appointments for up to 2 hours research are now available.

Use the online booking forms to book your visit up to two weeks in advance. ​If you need to book further ahead, or if you have any questions before making your booking, please phone the library. After you book your timeslot, we will contact you by phone to find out how we can make the most of your visit. If you have any special requirements, please let us know in advance.

When visiting, we ask that you:

  • Bring your appointment email or another form of identification
  • Wear a face covering
  • Bring your own pens/pencils and notepads.

Please note: We may not to be able to supply additional items on the day. We also ask you give us advance notice of any change in visit arrangements, information or support required. If you have questions about specific items in our collection on the day, for example, the staff present may not be able to help but we will do our best to find out the information for you.
