The upstairs gallery spaces provide an oasis of calm where you can enjoy a fabulous range of art from the eighteenth century to the present day.
Highlights include our nationally important collection of work by William McTaggart, Scottish Colourist, S.J. Peploe and Kirkcaldy resident Jack Vettriano.
Combined with an exciting programme of temporary exhibitions and interactive activities, there is always something new for visitors to enjoy.
An extraordinary celebration of Jack Vettriano’s career, this exhibition has generated widespread interest as it features early paintings by the artist, including nearly a dozen produced before he decided to become a full-time artist and are signed Jack Hoggan, his birth name. You will also get to see Vettriano’s more famous works: Billy Boys, Bluebird at Bonneville, Valentine Rose and Mad Dogs (to name a few) and a rejection letter that he received from art school.
This is the Vettriano’s first retrospective since a major show at Glasgow’s Kelvingrove Art Gallery in 2013 and the first to focus on his formative years and early career.
Come along to our the Brushstrokes exhibition and feast your eyes on some of the fantastic artworks we have here in Fife. There are works by William McTaggart, Elizabeth Blackadder, John Bellany and all four Scottish Colourists, as well as a host of other gems, just waiting to be discovered. Whether you favour traditional or contemporary, have a fondness for a stunning seascape, a soft spot for a still life or a passion for portraits, there is truly something for everyone.
