Join OnFife Libraries to help celebrate a quarter of a century of World Book Day

24 February 2022

Young book lovers in Fife are being invited to join in the celebrations on Thursday 3 March to mark 25 years of World Book Day with fantastic activities and giveaways for children of all ages.

Get dressed up and come along to the Jennie Lee Library in Lochgelly, where a whole range of free activities will be taking place between 3.30-5pm. Bringing a big smile to children’s faces will be a free Code Club taster, free Lego Build Challenge, a drop-in book themed craft event and story sessions. But that’s not all – Children’s University Wonderboxes, filled with fun things to do, will also be given out.

Sharron Brown, OnFife Libraries” Service Development Officer, said: “It’s really great to bring this event to Jennie Lee Library for the 25th anniversary of World Book Day. The aim of the day is to create a celebration of books and reading and we think there’s no better way of doing this than welcoming children to libraries with fun things to do, promoting our services and giving them books to enjoy.”

Of course, the fun isn’t just for Lochgelly. Families all over the kingdom are welcome to come along to any OnFife Library to enjoy World Book Day and all it has to offer, including themed scavenger hunts, book activities and quizzes to take home or enjoy in their library.

There will also be a special school event taking place online with award-winning author Morag Hood, as well as stories and Bookbug sessions on the OnFife Virtual LibrarYAY Facebook group.

Spaces for the Jennie Lee Library activities are limited and age restrictions apply so contact Jennie Lee Library on 01592 583381 to find out more and reserve a place for Code Club and Lego sessions. For more information about World Book Day activities, visit www.onfife.com.
