Tangerine (2015) + Short Film + Trans Filmmaker Panel Q&A

Tangerine is Sean Baker’s vibrant and ground breaking comedy-drama, filmed entirely on iPhones and celebrated for its energy, humour and authentic storytelling. Set over the course of Christmas Eve in Los Angeles, the film follows Sin-Dee Rella, a transgender sex worker who discovers her boyfriend has been unfaithful while she was in prison. Determined to uncover the truth, she embarks on a whirlwind journey across the city with her best friend, Alexandra.

Bold, funny and deeply human, Tangerine shines a light on friendship, resilience and community while offering a fresh and unforgettable perspective on life at the margins. Praised for its remarkable performances and innovative filmmaking, the film has become a landmark of contemporary independent cinema.

The screening will be preceded by a short film and followed by a special Q&A with a panel of trans filmmakers, exploring the film’s themes, representation in cinema, and the importance of diverse voices in storytelling.
