Peacock Cinema Presents : WILD ROSE (15)

Screening as part of the Scottish Music strand of The Red Shoes Festival.
Starring 2026 Oscar-winner Jessie Buckley as Glaswegian country singer Rose-Lynn Harlan, Wild Rose is an unforgettable hymn to the dream of being an established country singer in Nashville. This wonderful, powerful and uplifting drama is our Community Choice screening for this season.
Rose-Lynn (Jessie Buckley) wants to get out of her native Glasgow, and she dreams big of being a country singer in the heart of the USA. A heartfelt and hopeful film, Wild Rose is driven by a passion for music. Full of raw talent, Rose-Lynne is just out of prison and has two kids living with her mum. Even though she has family responsibilities as a single-mother, can she still fulfil her long—held dream?
Join us for the final weekend of The Red Shoes Festival – a summer celebration of Scottish music and dance, centred on Dunfermline’s own Moira Shearer and the cultural places and people connected to her life and legacy and marking the centenary of her birth.
Scottish Music strand: From Punk at the Pictures to Country music at the Carnegie, this strand takes you through the Scottish music scene. It even includes Dunfermline’s own ‘story of the Skids’.
Dir: Tom Harper
Cast: Jessie Buckley, Julie Waters, Sophie Okonedo
Production Year: 2018
