Peacock Cinema Presents: THUMBELINA(U)

Screening as part of the Hans Christian Andersen’s Fairy Tales strand of the Red Shoes Festival.

Animated musical fantasy version of Hans Christian Andersen’s story, Thumbelina.

This retelling of the Hans Christian Andersen classic fairy tale has the digit-sized heroine evading the clutches of various toads, moles, and beetles before she can proceed with her courtship with her dream lover, Prince Cornelius.

Dressing up and singing are actively encouraged!

Join us for the second weekend of The Red Shoes Festival – a summer celebration of Scottish music and dance, centred on Dunfermline’s own Moira Shearer and the cultural places and people connected to her life and legacy and marking the centenary of her birth.

Hans Christian Andersen Fairy Tales strand: Named after Hans Christian Anderson’s The Red Shoes, journey through the Danes’ fairytales from “deep under the sea” with the Little Mermaid to the shoe-tapping Emperor’s New Groove.

Dirs: Don Bluth, Gary Goldman
Cast: Jodi Benson, Gino Conforti, Gary Imhoff

Production Year: 1994

What was life like for Moira Shearer growing up 100 years ago? Join us after the screening and look and touch the objects in OnFife’s handling boxes containing objects from the early decades of Moira’s life.
