Peacock Cinema Presents: THE EMPEROR'S NEW GROOVE (U)

Screening as part of the Hans Christian Andersen’s Fairy Tales strand of the Red Shoes Festival.

Animated comedy film, based on Hans Christian Andersen’s literary folktale, The Emperor’s New Clothes.

This lively and likeable animated film is set in a fictional kingdom in South America – and has as its unlovable hero the Emperor Kuzco, a spoiled monarch with a bad-temper. One of the targets of his temper is Yzma, an old woman who he sacks from her job in the royal court. It’s a bad move – because then she slips him a potion that turns him into a llama! The rest of the story concerns the lessons he learns in his new animal form – and whether he can ever become Emperor again.

Join us for the final weekend of The Red Shoes Festival – a summer celebration of Scottish music and dance, centred on Dunfermline’s own Moira Shearer and the cultural places and people connected to her life and legacy and marking the centenary of her birth.

Hans Christian Andersen Fairy Tales strand: Named after Hans Christian Anderson’s The Red Shoes, journey through the Danes’ fairytales from “deep under the sea” with the Little Mermaid to the shoe-tapping Emperor’s New Groove.

Dir: Mark Dindal
Cast: David Spade, John Goodman, Eartha Kitt

Production Year: 2000

Just like Boris Lermontov we have our ‘toy theatre’ (only ours is made from a cardboard box!). Join us after the screening and learn to make pipe cleaner ballerinas and stage your own ballet.
