Write ON is a friendly, no pressure creative writing group for amateur and unpublished writers. The sessions are FREE and there is no obligation to subscribe to a long course.
About Write ON
Do you have a passion for creative writing and/or poetry? Then this might be the group for you!
Experiment with fun prompts and exercises and explore the Galleries’ collection for inspiration! This is a welcoming space where you can chat with fellow writers, share your work and discuss the authors you love – or loathe!
We have two writing groups here at Kirkcaldy Galleries, one on the second Sunday of the month and one of the fourth Sunday of the month. Here is a little bit more detail:
Write ON: Part One
This writing group is led by our very own team members as they guide you through various writing prompts, exercises and activities. Every session is different, on one day you may find yourself up in the Galleries writing in response to a particular painting, or you may find yourself writing for an upcoming exhibition, or perhaps there is an object that you just feel needs to tell it’s story. There are so many opportunities to learn, practice and explore the wonders of Creative Writing.
If you feel like this is the group for you then book yourself a space here. Sessions run on the second Sunday of the month from 1pm–2pm.

Parking: There is parking in front of the building with spaces for Blue Badge holders as well as further free parking at Kirkcaldy train station.
There is ramped access from the entrance, and a lift is available for travel to the upper floor (exhibition spaces along with local and family history). A wheelchair is available for use in the building and sensory support items e.g. ear defenders, fidget toys, emotion fans can also be borrowed.
Accessible toilet facilities are available on both the ground level and first floor, and the Changing Places facility is located on ground level, accessed by a radar key.
Guide and assistance dogs are welcome.
We have worked with AccessAble to make finding out about our facilities easier before your visit. AccessAble’s surveyors visited our venue in person to create a Detailed Access Guide. Also available is a visual guide to help anyone who would like to know a bit more about what to expect on their visit.
