Accessibility statement

OnFife (Fife Cultural Trust) wants as many people as possible to be able to use this website. This statement explains how accessible onfife.com is, the steps we have taken, and how to get help or report a problem. It sits alongside our accessibility in our venues information.

You should be able to:

• change colours and contrast, or increase the text size, using our built-in accessibility toolbar or your own browser settings
• zoom in up to 300% without text spilling off the screen
• navigate most of the website using just a keyboard
• use the website with a screen reader

Measures we take to make this website accessible

We combine the WP Accessibility plugin with bespoke development work in our website.

The accessibility toolbar (provided by the WP Accessibility plugin) appears on every page and lets you switch to a high-contrast colour scheme and increase the text size. The plugin also adds further enhancements behind the scenes, such as enforced alternative text on images, ARIA roles and landmarks, correct language attributes and keyboard focus styling.

Improvements we have built into the website itself include:

• a “Skip to main content” link that appears as soon as you start navigating with a keyboard
• full keyboard support for the main navigation — the drop-down menus open on keyboard focus, not just on mouse hover
• a logical heading structure on every page, so screen-reader users can navigate by headings
• colour contrast meeting WCAG 2.2 AAA (4.5:1 for body text) across cards, buttons and content
• clearly-labelled, accessible search filters on our Archives and Newspaper catalogues

How accessible this website is

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.2 Level AAA standard. Most of the website meets this standard. We know some parts are not yet fully accessible:

• the Archives and Newspaper catalogues contain large volumes of imported historical records, and some entries have inconsistent titles or dates carried over from the original catalogue
