The dynamic, ever-changing traces of human interaction with the landscape capture both our imaginations.  While we both like to experience the landscape first-hand through walking and climbing, our distinctive backgrounds and artistic practices mean that we interpret these experiences in different ways”

2017 is Scottish Year of History, Heritage and Archaeology and it is fitting to be exhibiting ‘Remains in the Landscape’ at Fife Space as part of this celebration.

Clare studied archaeology at the Edinburgh University (MA Hons), and was later awarded a BA (Hons) in Fine Art by Sheffield Hallam University.  Since leaving archaeology to pursue a full-time career as a fine artist she has exhibited nationally and internationally, winning several awards, including the JD Fergusson Art Award (2009), and the Derbyshire Trophy in Buxton (2006). Also of note are her recent solo exhibition with the John Muir Trust, her community art projects for Historic Scotland, and her past roles as Exhibition Curator for Fife (Dunfermline) Print Workshop (FDPW) and as Chairperson of Perth and Kinross Visual Arts Forum. She is currently involved in Washi-Umi O Koete: Paper from Across the Sea, a collaboration between FDPW and Mino Art papermakers in Japan.
