Fringe 2015

Fife Youth Arts set the Fringe on FYA in the summer of 2015! They moved into their Fringe home, The Edinburgh Academy, on 2nd August and filled it with talented young adults until August 23rd. Their programme included 33 diverse performances from themselves and partners including Youth Music Theatre Scotland, Collision, Highland Youth Arts Hub, Belcanto and All or Nothing.

Every August hundreds of thousands of visitors descend upon Edinburgh to the Fringe Festival. The aim of this project was to make sure that young people from Fife experience diverse, outstanding, high quality arts, and ultimately, turn the Fringe venue into a celebration of Fifes creativity.

Youth Music Theatre Scotland (YMTS) brought three productions – Thirteen, The Musical and Into the Woods. Thirteen was the first show in the fringe run and the cast set the bar extremely high! Not only did the show receive five star reviews but it also debuted at number 8 in a list of best musicals at the Fringe. YMTS also brought high quality in their adaptation of Into The Woods. Receiving a standing ovation every night, the cast preserved the golden reputation that YMTS has created over the years.

Collisions piece ‘And Then I See’ saw a cast of young adults deal with raw and mature themes on the stage.  There was also fabulous performances including Where is Love from xYMTSrecitals from our Young Classical Artists, our Fringe Picks – including performances from the Highland Hub – along with a gallery space and free workshops from Belcanto voices and All or Nothing.

Fife Youth Arts delivered a platform in the nation’s festival that was dedicated to showcasing the talent of Fife’s young people.  The venue was run by young adults, for young adults. Young Creative Producers organised the entire festival programme along with interns in Venue Management, Social Media, Technical Theatre and Marketing.

Onstage or off, Fife Youth Arts delivered a fantastic experience to all who participated in Fringe on FYA.
