The concerts were part of the Festival of British Youth Orchestras. The programme includes a description of music work in Fife schools, lists of the young people taking part and their schools, and notes on the career of of Calum Gourlay, musician and former members of the Fife Schools and Youth orchestras and of John Gourlay principal teacher of music at Dunfermline High School and composer of one of the pieces performed by the Youth orchestra
